This week we focus on what it means to be content in our calling. We can often wrestle with questions about calling, particularly in how exactly we work this out on a day to day basis. True contentment in calling begins not with what we do, but with understanding whose we are. Before we can walk confidently in our specific calling, we must first be rooted in our belonging to Jesus. All believers share a general call to faith, transformation, and godliness, while also carrying a unique and specific assignment from God. Contentment in calling is found through clarity about what God has called us to, understanding the equality of all callings in God’s eyes, and recognizing that calling is about being in the center of God’s will rather than a specific location or title. We need to guard against a divided heart, a distracted heart, and an unforgiving heart that can cling to the past and rob us of contentment in our calling.
