This week we explore what it means to be content in our God-given identity and makeup. We can draw from the biblical examples of Job, David, Abraham, and Paul to show that true contentment is only possible when our identity is rooted in our Creator rather than in our achievements, appearance, roles, or the opinions of others. When life strips away the things we might mistakenly build our identity on, a faith anchored in God remains unshaken. There are four easily identifiable enemies of contentment: comparison, self-centeredness, worry, and trying to perform someone else’s role in the body of Christ. The antidotes to these enemies include
● Loving others well.
● Celebrating their successes.
● Replacing anxiety with thanksgiving
● Embracing the unique works God has prepared specifically for each person.
When we are truly content in how God has made us, we silence the noise of the world, live at peace, and make decisions from a place of security rather than a need for approval.
