God rested on the seventh day. Learning to rest well has a powerful influence on our lives. Heb4:7 When Jesus went to the cross God once again was finishing His work. Jesus said at the cross it is finished. On Easter Saturday God rested too.

What exactly is entering Gods rest. In the old testament there was a day the Sabbath and a place. The place of rest is the promised land. The land of milk and honey. What about the New Testament. The Sabbath is today. When we hear Gods voice. It is when we rest in God. The Sabbath rest is now the person of Christ that we rest in. Eph2:8-9. But is there a place of rest? Heaven will be our ultimate place of worship. But the kingdom of heaven is the Kingdom of God. Mark 1:15closeMark 1:15

the Kingdom of God is near. Rom14:17 the Kingdom of God is a matter of righteousness, peace and joy.

We are to make every effort to enter his rest. But we have work to do. Col1:29. How does hard work equate with rest?
to do God work is to believe in the one He sent. To work hard with all Gods energy. As we are at work God is at work among us.

Seven rest robbers:

1) Heb3:7 don’t harden your heart

2) Heb3:8 a wrong response to God

3) a lack of trust in God Prov3:5-6

4) just giving up. Hold firm to the confidence we have.

5) discouragement Heb3:13

6) disobedience, holding onto the wrong things. 1John 1:9closeJohn 1:9

7) unbelief, refusing to believe what God can or can’t do.

Are we ready to live in Gods rest. Two practical things. Heb4:12 the Word of God is living and active. Let Gods word do its work on our hearts. Vs16 approach Gods throne of grace. Embrace Gods grace his help for us. Gods grace can change our lives but we need to find where it is.
